Basic Perspective: Diminution
It is easy to see diminution down a long hall or a railroad track because of the converging lines to the vanishing point. Diminution, however, also occurs within an object itself.

Diminution: Though the front plane and the back plane are the exact same size in reality, the back plane appears smaller because it is farther away. The parallel lines in the third thumbnail show this.
Diminution: The closer front tire appears larger as compared to the back tire.
