Assignment: Graphite Composition and Thumbnails
Specifications
Subject matter: Use one or more of the following photos as your subjects. It would be helpful to print the photo(s), but you may use the images on your computer screen as a reference. Click on the thumbnail to view the larger picture.

Assignment 2: Using the photographs provided, create 8 different thumbnail compositions. Using the principles of design that you’ve learned, arrange the objects into effective thumbnail compositions. To improve the composition, you may change the size and/or placement of the objects, and/or crop the borders as needed.
Each thumbnail will be 2"x3" and either horizontal or vertical. Draw using line only. Scan and submit.

Assignment 3: Add value and texture to each of your thumbnail compositions. Scan and submit. In your group discussion board, identity your two most effective compositions and explain why you chose them.

Post your completed drawings by Thursday 11:59 PM: Scan in and submit your drawings to the discussion board.
Provide feedback by Friday 11:59 PM: Provide feedback to members of the class. I will be providing feedback, but I’d like you to offer feedback also. In your feedback answer the following questions:
- Which compositions are best and why?
- Do you agree with the top two identified by the student?
- Are the drawings in proportion? Are the volumes correct?
- Make suggestions for improvement.
