Project 02 | Monogram & Stationery

Project 02

Introduction

This project will expand the principles explored in Project 01 by creating a personal monogram using one of our course typefaces. This project will introduce you to important skills of typeface selection and the skill of correct and sensitive manipulation of type using Adobe Illustrator. Designers use these skills frequently to create logotypes and customized typographic works.

For this project you will use two to three letters representing your own initials. Using any of the approved typefaces from our course Type Specimen booklet, you will combine these glyphs into a stylized and unique typographic composition. Your sketches should initially be varied and broad. As the project progresses, you will begin to focus on those designs that reflect your personality. To conclude with, you will apply the monogram to a stationery system, which will provide an opportunity for you to develop your personal brand.
