Project 01
Introduction
In Art 130, the principles and elements of design were introduced to you with the shapes project. This project uses the same concepts and adds the element of typography. In this project, we will use glyphs, or individual letters. These glyphs will act as shapes and will be used in the same way you used circles and squares in the Art 130 shapes project.

You must complete all project steps in order to pass the class. The steps are designed to be completed in order.

Specifications
Use the following specifications. Failure to follow the specifications will result in a low grade.
- size: 8 inches wide by 9.5 inches tall
- fonts: Helvetica and Adobe Garamond
- five to eight different glyphs, at least five unique glyphs
- use black or white, no gray
- don’t use outlines
- at least 2 letters should be black and 2 white
- use only alphanumeric glyphs (numbers and letters)
- don’t make pictures
- each composition should contain: a stem, stroke, spine, bowl, and ascender (or descender)

When is the workbook due?
The project workbook should be completed and submitted as a PDF on the day the final project is due. You should keep a secure backup of your files to produce a finished comprehensive workbook.
Craftsmanship
The highest level of craftsmanship is required in the production of the final Web page and workbook. The process step blog posts included in the workbook should be free from grammar and spelling errors.
Feedback
Providing feedback to other class members is required. A failure to provide timely and helpful comments will result in a grade reduction for the project.
