Design a cover and 2 spreads for a book about designing with the grid.
All project steps are required to be completed in order to pass the class. The steps are designed to be completed in order.
The Project 5 workbook template can be downloaded from the resources section below. Its purpose is to document your design process in a complete and organized fashion.
Introduction | A restatement of the project in your own words. (100 word minimum)
Step 01 | 1.Choose serif and sans-serif font and complete a spread for each font. 2. Design a grid for your grid booklet design.Choose Margins and the number of columns. Flow text into your document to show your columns. The blog post should be about pairing fonts (this will take some research).
Step 02 | Concept Sketches. 1. Using the grid you have designed sketch by hand 3 different sets of layout options. Each set should include a cover and 2 spreads. 2. Use the original document you creates to show the grid. Give it a new name so that the previous document remains unchanged. Create a digital sketch of a cover and two spreads. 3. Blog about your experience.
Step 03 | Open the document that you created in Step 02. Save it with a new name so that the process of step 02 will be documented. Make changes and refinements based on feedback from the class. Blog about the benefits of designing with a grid. 3. Blog about your experience.
Step 04 | Open the document that you created in Step 03. Save it with a new name so that the process of step 03 will be documented. Make final changes and refinements based on feedback from the class.
Conclusion
The project workbook should be completed and submitted as a pdf on the day the final project is due. You should keep a secure backup of your files to produce a finished comprehensive workbook.
The highest level of craftsmanship is required in the production of the final webpage and workbook. The process step blog posts included in the workbook should be free from grammar and spelling errors.
Providing feedback to other class members is required. A failure to provide timely and helpful comments will result in a project grade reduction.
